Allocated Parking Space Issues - to park or not to park that is the question?

Wow that does look narrow, that pillar is in just the wrong place, even if it was a metre forward or back it would help with door opening.0

Problem solved.

Or just park further to the left, tighter to the pillar. Then you'll get the driver's side off the line dividing the two. By a rough rule-of-thumb using the width of your tyre as a guide, there's about 250mm+ between your door and the pillar.lisade said:Thank you for taking the time to reply. We do have a few photos from when we first got the space. With a bit of practice its possible to get a bit closer to the pillar in 71, but not much, reversing in would be easiest but then the post blocks the drivers door. We had a look at the Plan they provided in the lease and the 2 pillars are shown to be outside of the spaces and not encroaching into parking spaces 70/71. We flagged up we had a 4*4 when we reserved 18 months before we completed, we were due to part exchange it for a Tesla 3 now we have a charger, its width is 13cms narrower which could help. Either that or get a car with a fully retractable sun roof!
BTW, you do know the lines are not part of your space? You're meant to stay INSIDE them?
Your Cayenne is just under 2m wide, mirrors excluded. 150mm wider than a Tesla 3. Standard space is 4.8m x 2.4m. Your Cayenne is 4.8m long.
How frequent are those pillars? Are they every pair of spaces along that row? Are there chargers on the row behind you, which I'm guessing are external spaces? Looks like space 69/70 have an allowance between them to reduce intrusion.0 -
If the road markings were altered, and the back edge of the two spaces were extended by a meter - would that block anything? If the vehicles were parked further back it would solve the issue - but does that create a further issue? Would there still be sufficient space to pass for other vehicles? (Obviously can’t see behind you as to what’s there)lisade said:Thank you for taking the time to reply. We do have a few photos from when we first got the space. Yep!
I've found out yesterday I have free legal phone advice cover through my property insurance (and potentially legal case cover) happy days.
I noticed yesterday that The Car Parking Plan they provided in the lease prior to Completion shows the pillars outside of the Car Park Spaces. Thee developers via the sales office repeatedly denied access to the site prior to signing of the lease. Car Park was only allowed on completion. So it would never have been possible to check the plan vs the actual site. The legal helpline says there may be a case of Misrepresentation if the Developers refuse to allocate a space that is 2.4m wide. Based on the plan supplied prior to completion was incorrect.
As per the first post above I mentioned that it also appears that the developers/leasehold company and their solicitors had omitted to mark on the car park plan which Car Park space is allocated to the plot. Which could prove useful as this needs to be rectified. If Vendors solicitor so send me the same plan I could refuse as is not representative of the site. Alternatively if did send a plan which is representative (ie with the pillars shown in the space()then that would be misrepresentation as well? They sold the property with the benefit of a parking space, but the space is not useable as useable space.1 -
AS said check the planning for the development.
You should have done that anyway.0 -
Seems narrow but it does seem an awfully large car. I think part of the problem is cars all seem to be getting larger these days.0
