Credit Noodle advising higher credit limit

Hi,

I have a zero balance and £13k limit on my Lloyds Credit Card. My Credit Karma report went down a bit and they recommend I up my limit past £15k to increase my score.

Is this recommended?

Are Lloyds likely to do this? Considering the balance is zero?

Many Thanks

    Good old Credit Karma.

Ignore any of their recommendations, especially their current '15k limits for everyone' campaign.

And don't forget to ignore your credit score too.
Noted, thank you for that. I'll take no notice of it then.

Well unless you are actually using the card & getting near the limit on a regular basis, asking for a increase is a good way of getting it reduced once you highlight the account to them.
Especially at the moment when companies are looking to reduce their exposure to risk & debt.
I would ignore anything a Credit Ref co says.

We're not using more than £1000 at a time, and that's just for protection, and we pay it off in full each month, so no way near needing the increased limit.

Thanks for the note RE highlighting it, I had not thought of that.

Do you think this recommendation that Credit Karma give to everyone is independent?
Are you aware that Credit Karma sell credit cards?
  • Don't forget to go out and get yourself a mortgage too, that's another one of their very helpful recommendations.

They advertise credit cards but they don't provide them themselves.
  • I've got email that my credit score on Credit Karma went down. I checked the account and it's because I'm using 0% of my credit card limits ... It advises me to use my credit cards more. In fact, I'm using them, but having quite high total limit means, I'm using just 0.9% of it.
  • As posted by zx81, Penelopa, ignore that credit score, it's meaningless.
I too receive e-mails every month from them. My "score" is down and up like the proverbial without any change in circumstances at all!

But get a nice kick back when you take one out via their link. Which is just the same as MSE do.
