My wifes android phone has a number of recently added apps that we cannot seem to be able to remove
Namely "My Consumer Cellular" and "Equip App" they appear to be imbedded in to the OS !
My Consumer Cellular is an Account management tool - but doesn't work with Virgin !
Equip App is a superannuation app
She tells me that they both appeared over the weekend,
I have "disabled" them
Is there no way to completely delete these without rooting - apart from a rebuild ?

Hi,you should get the option to uninstall in Apps manager.0

If they do not have an 'uninstall' option then you cannot uninstall them without rooting etc.
Just like the Facebook app in fact.0 -

Either an Android update or more likely put there by the carrier or Samsung. I have had several things miraculously appear on my phones over the years, none of which were remotely useful and were quickly disabled.
If uninstallable it has been installed as a 'system' app.
Your revenge is to rate it one star!2 -

All Android devices are a 'pact with the devil' .. unless you ROOT the device, the OWNER is not you but the supplier / air time provider ... This means they can update the device whenever they like (and install what they like, including adverts etc.) and there is nothing you can do to stop it ... (except take out the SIMM card and turn off your home WiFi :-) ) .... Fortunatly MOST devices CAN be 'rooted' ... you just have to Google 'how to' (be warned == if your ROOT attempt goes wrong, on SOME devices you can end up 'bricking' it (i.e. it locks up and won't respond, again, ever)) == so do lots of Google'ing to see what problems others have run into before you go ahead ..)

I'd suggest you don't root your phone if you use it for online banking - most banking apps can detect if a phone has been rooted and will refuse to work.Jenni x1

I have a phone that operates under the Android one program - no facebook, twitter or other unwanted rubbish, just pure Android. Might be worth looking at that for future purchases although I think it might only be Nokia and google phones on this program going forward.0
