RBS Royalties Hotel Booking

As I have one of these account I was wondering about the hotel booking scheme. Has anyone used it? Was it any good? Did you get a better discount than booking direct? I know it's not strictly old-style but you all talk such sense...... :D I normally trawl the cheapo sites (octopus, expedia etc) but was wondering about this .... Ta!
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

I think this would get lots more responses if it was on either the holidays or the Credit card board. I'll move it on to the Hols board first because I guess loads of people on there will have this type of card :)

I don't have the royalties gold myself , but parents and friends have.
If you book your holiday through them -they guarantee to beat any advertised (Brochure) price by 10%

You also get free travel insurance , access to the airport executive lounges
In the uk it only seems to be the big chain hotels they use for short breaks , as parents tried unsuccessfully recently to get a weekend away , it ended up cheaper by booking directly with the hotel.

I personally never ever pay the brochure price for a holiday ,so i think it is a bit of a false economy - to pay the bank to give you a discount on something that you could get cheaper yourself anyway !

You also get commision free foreign exchange - but you still get a better rate from travelex.

I'm getting a Nationwide account today because I'm always paying out too much in fees.

But when is it better to use Travelex?
