Also, assuming you are in the UK, decide if you want a direct flight (BA or Sri Lanka) or are happy to go via Doha (Qatar airways) or Dubai (Emirates).

Dbrookf have a look at the Maldives Forum on Tripadvisor on a computer so you see the full site and on the right of the page is a list of advice, the first one is 'Which resort'.
You need to think through what you want first or it's too confusing. Do you want somewhere for just one, a couple and romantic, a couple and social or with children?
Do you want a boat transfer or a sea plane transfer?
Do you want somewhere with eating options, a big buffet or fresh local fish, do you want coral and snorkeling or no news no shoes back to basics?
Then look at what's available that will suit you and your budget. It is expensive but it's also adictive if you like white sand and warm seas and tons of fresh air.

Just to give the other perspective, sibling went to the Maldives on honeymoon and was bored witless after the first week - I don't know which island that was, but it was definitely a case of "there's only so much sitting on a beach you can do."
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Snorkelling and diving are the main time fillers.
Then again, be bored witless shivering at home in lockdown or be bored with beautiful beaches, attentive staff in 30 degrees heat lying on you lounger?
Aren’t honeymooners meant to be otherwise occupied?
