When did you buy these tickets, and when is the date of travel?
Back in March/April when people had booked tickets in January, train companies were quite lenient in waiving the £10 charge as Covid had caught us unawares. If you bought the tickets recently, you can't have been unaware of Covid and risk it posed to your travel plans, so it doesn't seem unreasonable for the train company to apply the £10 charge now that the risk you were aware of has disrupted your plans.
  • The train company agreed to refund without the admin charge - So if you are in a similar position it doesn't hurt to ask!
