Share value software

Hi, I'm managing assets for my mum as her POA. She has some shares that she inherited and some of her own and she often asks me what they are worth (not just collectively either!) The shares are directly owned rather than through a brokerage account. Is there some software I can use that will update share values automatically? Thanks :-)

You could use one of the free online portfolios e.g. trustnet, yahoo etc. or maybe Interactive Investors virtual portfolio featureI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!2

If they are shares - just use the Excel Stocks/Share optionNickyc88 said:Hi, I'm managing assets for my mum as her POA. Type the ticker into a cell then go to the Data Menu and press Stocks. (on a Mac), there will be a pulldown with loads of options including Price
The price will be delayed by 15 minutes (if it is a open ended fund the price is delayed by a week or so)3 -
Create a portfolio on the London Stock Exchange site. You can then monitor dividend announcements etc.2

Would you know of any site which does the same for funds and IT's please?0

ITs are just companies trading on the stock exchange. So the same process applies.TUVOK said:Would you know of any site which does the same for funds and IT's please?
Microsoft and Google are not very good at getting data for funds (which do not come through on their stock exchange pricing feeds because they do not trade on a public exchange, instead being administered by intermediaries through fund platforms). You could perhaps set a custom query to scrape the data from a particular part of a website.
For funds, you could do a virtual portfolio on trustnet.com; it's not perfect, but helps you track what you have. However, as funds are typically going to be held through an electronic platform rather than on paper certificates in a box at home, you could just log into the platform to see them
