teletext non refund

Hi all,

I am at my wits end with teletext; I booked a holiday with them in February 2020 to travel late May 2020 They cancelled early May and offered voucher or cash I filled in the necessary online form for a cash refund but it has never been refunded! This has been going on for months with no reply to my emails & phone calls that are deliberately ended by them, or promises that I will receive funds at the end of the month.

I have tried to do a chargeback which my bank refused because of 120 day rule(which seems ridiculous as there was 90+ days between the payment being and travel dates)!!I have also tried to use my Travel Insurance who informed me they cannot do anything as a voucher was also offered (this expired at the end of 2020) I made them aware of this but have since not had any further replies.

Surely as no service was provided and the funds were taken they must refund?

Thanks

P

There are a few Teletext threads over on the Coronavirus Travel forum. You might wish to do a forum search and look there to see how others have approached similar issues with Teletext.

If you booked a package holiday (easiest way of telling is if you have an ATOL certificate and/or see the £2.50 pp protection charge on your invoice) you should certainly be due a refund if the holiday was cancelled by them.

In terms of contacting them are you following the process they stipulate on their website?
  • OP how did you pay?
If by credit card try  S75?
If by debit card read and follow Westin's post/
  • Had a response back from ATOL
If you are contacting us regarding a claim for an ATOL holder that has not failed, we are unable to assist.

That's correct. ATOL Protection only comes into play if the business has financially failed.

You were asked about the ATOL certificate to establish if you had a package holiday.

And yet you don’t answer any of the questions people have asked above to try and help you..!

the 120 days would have applied from date of travel which would have taken you to end September.
