In my opinion, that sounds opportunistic. Getting your tax back is very easy. It's about 3 minutes work.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.2

Whether they are genuine or not why pay them to do something you can easily do for free yourself?2

You claim back the tax paid on the interest element of any PPI repayment you got (not the whole refund) and it is as simple as filling in form R40 and posting it off. Keep in mind if you have a lot of interest from savings or are a higher rate tax payer this might open up a can of worms!
Remember you can claim back for anything up to 5th April 2016 as there is a 4 year + current year limit

They knew that information because they’ve bought your information from the CMC you used previously. It’s assumed if they can rinse you once for an easy task, they’ll likely be able to rinse you again.helpful tips

At my house, every cold caller deserves (and receives) the cold shoulder treatment. First of all I screen all my calls and if callers want to leave a message they can. Second of all, I would never accept any offer of anything whatsoever from any cold caller. They are not genuine, they want your money. Never give them money OR information such as your NI. That way identity fraud lies. Hang up. But don't even answer in the first place. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Although I do carry out careful research before posting and never intend to mislead or supply out-of-date or incorrect information, please do not rely 100% on what you are reading. Verify everything in order to protect yourself as you are responsible for any action you consequently take.0
