They'll have a lot of profit in the Paint Protection as the cost of materials is about £30 tops and it'll be one of the car cleaners they'll probably get to apply it.

I guess, if you've agreed a deal and that deal included some "free" paint protection, they may let you remove the paint protection but not reduce the value of the order...

Have the paint protection or don't have it - the choice is yours.
What are your plans for the end of the PCP?  
Will they come after you for "damage" that could have been protected against by the "paint protection"?  If you plan to give the car back, it is really their car that is being protected and not your car...

thanks, i usually keep my cars 3 years, then p/ex or vt but treat it as my own whilst i have it.
i will try to get it removed, and see if they reduce accordingly which i doubt but will give it a blast

I can't quite remember, but someone said before that the "extras" are not part of the pcp finance somehow, and that affects the VT point- was it that they are paid up front out of the deposit?

Doesn't affect anything if you are just running to term though.

Yes in some circumstances the lender will create a sub account within the finance package for  non tangible "extras" that don't add value to the car (GAP insurance, tyre &alloy cover etc). This sub account is set up as a "Personal Loan" type finance with no VT rights.

Just ordered a new Skoda before Christmas and these were added to the initial quote, but the salesman said the option was mine. I could have the 2x services for £150 deal only with PCP but didn't have to take the tyre/paint package so they took them off. I negotiated for some cash back on a tow bar and they added this to the px price.

My cautionary tale about extras was when negotiating for a new Audi. After agreeing part-exchange value, factory-fitted extras (metallic paint, heated seats) and the monthly PCP payment, the salesman went off and came back with a computer printout. In his absence I had estimated the deposit we needed but the printout was approx £2,000 more due to other extras we hadn't discussed - GAP insurance, exterior and interior protection, service plan - which the salesman said the computer automatically adds. He did remove them when asked. The revised quote showed these other extras were built into the deposit and made no difference to the PCP payment.

so, had a call from the dealer today, the apr they offer has dropped, so as i havent signed the finance yet i will get this better rate. my worry now, what if they apr goes up - do i get that passed onto me as well!?
