There have not been many reports like yours, so your problem appears to be linked to yourself.
As I said earlier, if you are in financial hardship, complain to the NS&I CEO. He / his office can do something about your issue. Nobody on this forum can.
You clearly need to do a little more research before making such unqualified assertions.  The fact that the treasury committee are seeking answers from NS&I following string of complaints would suggest otherwise...
As for complaining to NS&I I have already done this and recently asked my MP to raise an enquiry.  8 weeks later still no response and no access to my savings.  Do you really think this is an acceptable level of service...

There is obviously something very specific to your particular issue if neither the NS&I CEO nor your MP nor the Treasury Committee have been able to resolve it in the last 8 weeks.

    Nothing remarkable.
I filled in an online form to transfer my IB to PB and the IB account was closed a few days later.
    Then radio silence.
When I later rang they said that a cheque had been raised with my savings and sent to the PB dept.
Since then nothing, hence the complaint and MP letter.
I'm clearly not an isolated case as the reviews on trust pilot will attest to.
NS&I are clearly in disarray with evidently very weak governance.
It will be interesting what their response to the Treasury Committee will be on Monday....

  • Hey Intenso,  don't bother responding to Colsten, he/she is obviously not having any issues and therefore has no worries or empathy.
I am guessing it will all get sorted sooner or later (probably later) but what impact that will have on those who are not able to access their savings, in times of desperate need, remains to be seen.  You could do as I have done, email the CEO Ian Ackerley (ian.ackerley@nsandi.com) but he is unlikely to ever see it.
The only reason I commented on this forum was to warn people not to take it for granted that they will be able to access their NS&I funds as and when they want to.
I wish everyone with NS&I savings good luck

Well it seems I am just another victim of NS&I and whatever game it is they are playing.
In case you've missed the news recently recently no one is playing games. Complaining to all and sundry is simply causing unneccesary unproductive work that wastes valuable time. Then people wonder why everything takes far longer........

Without raising a complaint how are people supposed to bring a problem to the attention of the right people within the organisation?
Common sense would say that those working within an organisation have a much better idea than armchair critics. Who do nothing more than compound the problem by creating additional work. Would you prefer someone to be productive and clear the back log, or answer complaints?

With 2 different examples, I've experienced no problems with NS&I so I can only sympathise with those having difficulties.  About 2 weeks ago I helped my Father transfer £50k from his Income Bonds account into Premium Bonds.  This was completed, fault free, in about 2 days.  The only complaint I have is they did not notify him the request had been actioned; I would have expected an email or text to tell him.  Quite separately, my Son sold all his Premium Bonds (< £10k) requesting the proceeds be put into his bank account.  The whole process was actioned in about 24 hours, again with no problems.

    7 month delay for me.
I opened up 2 JISAs. The first opened ok (for NS&I) the second that does involve a transfer in from a child trust fund has taken 7 months and counting.

I called them yesterday and they had forgotten??? to chase up the existing provider.

Apparently there is a document bon my file from October saying 'follow up with xxxxxx' but nobody did.

The person I spoke to apologised but follows up by saying transfers in can take 12 weeks. I'm no mathematician but mid July until mid January sounds longer than 12 weeks to me.....

I would have followed up sooner but I work in health care and have been a little busy. I briefly attempted twice but was out off by the 'only if urgent' recorded message. This time I stuck with it on hold for 72 minutes.

Just another anecdotal comment re the issues being faced by NS&I, I submitted a transfer of the JISA around the end of October so, NS&I would have received it by early November (probably).  It took them over 2 months to contact the receiving provider to advise them that a date of birth didn't match.  Subsequently I contacted NS&I to check, and it turned out they had transposed my own day and month of birth, and it would take the back office team a week to rectify (ho hum).  So, on Tuesday, next week, the receiving provider will re-submit the transfer request.  We'll see how it goes.

They are sure now to have a whole load of pensioner bond maturities to deal with too. Both my parents had these and they have just come to maturity (3yrs + 3 yrs), NS&I balance now zero but not yet received at bank. We'll see how long it takes...

They seem to use BACS.  So a couple of days to find and sharpen their quills plus 3 days in the banking system.
