I have successfully applied for a new Barclaycard (for balance transfer of £2800 at 0% and zero fee plus £20 cashback) but am having difficulty downloading two months of bank statements to verify my income. To increase my credit limit to over £2800 I need this verification to go through. There were 2 options. I didn`t like giving Transunion credit agency all my bank details through open banking so I opted to download the last 2 month PDF statements which seemed to go through until the final stage when an error message occurred. Phoned up, no help was offered and was told to submit statements by post. I then emailed for help and was told statements would not be accepted by post! What a shambles! I use firefox - should I try Micosoft Edge? Is there anyone else who has had similar issues?

I went through this process with Barclaycard in December 2020 and had just the same problem. I was trying to upload about eight PDF pages. I tried all sorts of things such as different browsers (I usually use Microsoft Edge) and creating the files differently (using a scanner, taking photos, etc.) as the error message said the problem was with the files. None of this seemed to do any good.
Eventually, though, on a particular attempt one of the eight pages uploaded correctly (for no particular reason that I could see), leaving seven with "errors". I concluded that the problem was in the uploading rather than with the files I had created. If I remember correctly, it doesn't let you just press Send again when there are errors, but you can remove files from the list and add others (leaving any that have uploaded correctly shown with a green tick) and then press Send again. So I removed the seven that had failed and just added the same files back in. This time, two more green ticks appeared. After four or five such attempts, I had eight green ticks and a success message! Very soon thereafter my credit limit was confirmed at the maximum they had mentioned before.
I agree that it's a very poor part of the application process and nearly made me give up. However, I'm glad I persevered. The rest of the application was slick, and I've been impressed with everything else since - speed of receipt of card, PIN, setting up direct debit, several emails clearly explaining features of the account, very clear statement, etc. So I hope this helps and that you are successful with your application.1 -
Received Higher credit limit. Despite error message download of bank statements must have gone through! During registration, kept getting logged out because system wouldn`t accept the numbers I was suggesting for a passcode. Eventually succeeded and now waiting on balance transfer to go through and then receive £20 bonus.
