Carer’s vaccination

I am in group four as a Clinically vulnerable person. My daughter is my carer, she gets Carers allowance, she is 44. At present, she, and ( I think) unpaid carers are to be included in group 6. It would make more sense if she had it at the same time as me. Has anyone else’s carer had theirs?

Only priority carers are those who work in care homes . Almost all my local care homes have just had their 2nd jab .

I cannot see the group's changing at all now , I'm my mum's primary carer , doing all her shopping etc for the last 12 months but I'm in group 7 . She's had both jabs now and has hopefully a reasonably high level of antibodies so I'm not now overly concerned

According to Carers UK, paid & unpaid Carers are included in group 6 with people with underlying health conditions. So you might be in that group. Not much of a jump, but it might make the difference of 2-3 weeks.

    I won't "jump the queue"

I'll get it when I'm actually due

Browntoa, I didn’t say “ jump the queue” I merely advised that you could jump up from group 7 to group 6.

May I ask a more general question re unpaid carers?
If social work aren't involved, how does anyone in authority know that someone is an unpaid carer?
There must be lots of us quietly doing caring duties every day but no-one knows about it?

    Exactly

The system is open to abuse if it allows anybody to say "I'm a carer"

What would stop , for example, me and my 3 brothers all claiming to look after my mum ?

It's not documented anywhere that I even look after my mum's welfare.

We have a tier vaccination system set , it may not be perfect in some people's eyes but it's what the government have set

If the person you are caring for has been vaccinated, why do you need to move up the queue?
The theory holds that the vulnerable person needs to be protected.

The carer needs to be registered as such with both their and the cared for persons GP

Just to make it clear, I was not asking the question looking to "jump the queue".

I too look after my mum's welfare, and will admit to finding the responsibility quite stressful. It's just that all the recent talk of paid carers and unpaid carers got me thinking in a more general way if it should be noted somewhere. My mum's doctor will speak to me on the phone but it's not registered anywhere.

_shel  thank you for your reply.
