As above can I use my credit card to pay an electrician? The tradesman only gave me his bank details with his name but will it not going to be considered as withdrawing money from the credit card and get charged as a cash withdrawal or will it be treated as normal payment of service?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Unless he takes credit cards and has a a card reader no. What you are intending to do by the sounds of it is withdraw cash from your credit card and deposit it in his bank- this will have a cash handling fee from the card provider.1

You could use a money transfer card if you have one, I wouldn't recommend using your card to put money in your account as that usually is very expensive. You won't get S75 cover or similar unless he accepts the card payment

Just tell him (after the job is satisfactorily completed) that you will pay as soon as he is able to use the card reader.
As others have posted any bank transfer does not come with chargeback or S75 protection - it is like handing cash over.2 -
Thanks all! Luckily he accepts credit card payment using a card reader. I don't have money transfer card but I recently got accepted for Sainsbury's credit card with 29 months 0% interest balance transfer so I used my other credit cards to pay tradesmen and then clear the balance using Sainburys payable for 29 months.save for the rainy days1

Some trades people who have a card reader ask for cash or bank transfer as the reader will take a small fee for the transaction.1
