Facebook rabbit hole!

Hi All.
In short had a new device for xmas, so went to login to Facebook, forgot password, sent for new password, email never arrived with the 6 digit code .... and so the nightmare began!

What I have tried...
Checked spam, blocked senders etc
Logged out all other devices with FB currently running on it.
Cleared all cookies and cache etc.
Used the “Trusted Friends” codes, and actually got to where I could set a new email address - but the next step of the recovery email was never received.
Have even entered an old password that it recognised but process started again, and we are back to square one. The original email has been associated with the account for a decade, and is still very much alive and kicking.
There doesn’t seem to be a way to contact a human at FB. People can still see my account etc. I just can’t actually access it.

Can anyone think of anything else I could try?

If you are able to change the email address, have you tried changing it to a different provider eg outlook instead of gmail or vice-versa?

Joys of ignoring the many prompts you have had over the years to :-

Set an alternative email address as a back up , can be used for security codes

Link mobile phone , codes sent to mobile are so much easier

    Update security details

So you have no further advice 😂. Tbf I did think the Trusted friends set up was a good idea and secured the account, and it seems to work to the point of putting in a new email.  The reason i haven’t added a mobile is because I know people who have had this compromised in the past.

Thanks for your response. I have mixed up the providers with outlook, gmail and hotmail. Even tried it with an old work email account. 😞
