A typo? What's the context?Edit:"A crog loft is a loft over the half of a cottage, furthest from the cooking hearth. It was used for sleeping in."
Is it being used by a slightly poncy surveyor in a newer house to describe a mezzanine or something, or does this actually exist in the one you're talking about?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

In practical terms it means, "This is a crummy little cottage without enough headroom for two proper storeys."Access is often by ladder, as in this example:(The simple snack bowl of pebbles is also very Welsh; being necessary to get one's vocal chords around certain place names like "Eglwyswrw" or Rhosllannerchrugog. How thoughtful of the host to provide them with the guide books!
