Thanks Milarky
It's worth a try then, I might as well apply for the credit card as well and see if I get £500 -
On a slightly different note I've only just discovered that A+L offer £50 to anyone who recommends the Premier or the Premier Plus Current Account to a 'friend' But better yet the person opening the account also gets £50. The payments are added to each persons account within 8 weeks of the new account being credited with it's first minimum monthly deposit.
For more info copy and paste this link into your browser (not a direct referral, just a link to a page on the A+L website)......

It seems incredibly straight-forward and you can take advantage of it even if you've already gone ahead and opened your account (as long as it wasn't more than a few weeks ago I suppose!)
If anyone wants to make a really good deal on a current account even better send me a private message and I'd be more than happy to be your referral.
Cheers

Did the change go smoothly or were there any probs with changing direct debits etc? I've hung onto my A+L premier because I still had my free overdraft but, as that's finished now, I'm wondering whether it will be worth the hassle of upgrading?0 -
Hi All,
I was told that if you applied online, even if you told them you had an existing current account and gave its number, that they opened a new Premier or Premier Plus account rather than upgrading.
I was given the impression that they only way to upgrade an existing account (thus keeping same account no, DDs, Debit Cards etc) was to do so over the phone - I was even told in branch to phone them to upgrade, suprised they wouldn't do it in branch!
If they now do let you upgrade online, that is excellent, would save the cost of an 0845 call for anyone who doesn't know about saynoto0870.com!
Cheers

What Milarky did was not an upgrade. It was opening a new account. You CANNOT upgrade online as buses correctly points out.
That makes the £25 credit rather less surprising - but it's rather pointless opening a new account with the same bank just for a £25 credit, and then having to change all your DD details etc.0
