How much does it cost to build an extension over the garage?

Hi all,
We live in West Sussex in an end of terrace property with a garage. I appreciate no size fits all - so I'm just curious what the costings would be for a garage extension converted to bedroom based on the below floor plan. Appreciate I can contact a local builder/tradesman for this - but due to the current lockdown I don't feel comfortable having anyone round for quotes.
I'm a complete newbie to extensions so I don't know a great deal of the entire process ; i.e planning permission, architect drawings etc.

Reasoning for this post is to get some insight to what we need and the main thing is how much on average will it cost?
Thanks all,

Darren :)

I’m in the north east and was recently quoted £30-35k to demolish garage and build 2 storey extension. This was from a well known reputable builder. This included building, plumbing, electrics and plastering. Above poster says £45k. Seen various websites which claim £50k-£100k.

    So between £30k and £100k....

I’m afraid if you want anything more specific you’re going to have to get some quotes in. The cost will vary significantly depending on your location, size, quality of finish, amongst other things.
  • First would need to expose foundations to see if deep enough to build over garage, probably not. structural engineer would lay out your options.
so approx 15m2 would be about £2500-£3000/m2 not including VAT, as relatively small area.
