Clocked Car reporting

Hi Everyone
I have found a clocked car on auto trader that i would like to report to someone to take action on does anybody know who i should report this to?  I know the car is clocked as i sold it to webuyanycar.com two months ago with 99k miles on the clock (the webuyanycar receipt confirms this) and the car is now advertised on autotrader (i was being nosey looking for it) with 92k miles on the clock which is the same as displayed on the most recent MOT - which was undertaken after i sold the car?

Any help would be appreciated just want to stop someone else being scammed by this - albeit only for a small amount given the price discrepancy between a 99k and a 92k car.

Thanks

More likely to be a typo for such a small change?

The seller probably got the mileage from the MOT, not the car. I'd like to see what the odometer on the car said before I jumped to any conclusions about dubious activities.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

If the seller really had clocked it, he would have knocked off a lot more than 7,000.

True, but the mot was done after the op sold the car.

99k to 92k does seem an odd adjustment. Was it something like 99254 but the MOT person has put it in as 92954?

There is no authority to report this to other than to report a bad mot, and it is probably a mistype anyway for such a ridiculous change.

The price differene here would be zero, but I am sure the odometerwill still show the thing, so the outcome is annoied customer and probably actually getting the car a bit cheaper as an aploogy for the error.

Why are you looking into a car you no longer own anyway? Let it go.

Also clocking a car had no concequences, its is just misrepresenting it as true milage that is the issue, and for such a small change again, this is not the case here as there is no gain.

  • I have seen trading standards deal with dealers who sell clocked cars. Multiple car sales though

There is no advantages in clocking a car at that milage for that little. The value or desirability will not have been affected.
  • Plus previous Mots show the mileage year on year anyway , more than likely a typo either by we buy any car or the current seller.

Why are you getting so involved in this anyway? Your interest in that car vanished as soon as you sold it

Have you considered going looking at the car and seeing it's current mileage as you can't seem to let this go?
  • Probably trying to work out how much profit WBAC made.  Though not an efficient way of finding out.
