LG TV ruins HDD

Apologise for the delay, windows crash and re-installing many programs

I do have a Humax twin tuner, sat under the TV and not plugged in for a couple of years

Mainly use catchup TV, record a program on the HDD or use timeshift

It appears LG Tvs have (Had) an issue recording to flash drives

From the internet, some people appear to have has sucess and others report not

I bought a 32 GB USB Flash Drive specifically for using it for recording on my new TV.
Alas, this TV (and, I think, all LG's Smart TVs) only records on external HDD (40 GBs at least); USB sticks are only for contents. This was unmentioned both in the manual and in the built-in guide.playing
The TV's recording feature (Time Machine II) just ignores the USB stick and asks to connect an external HDD.

I have tried a 16GB and 32GB USB stick in my LG TV and although only a brief test it seemed to record the TV

just fine.

Is the drive formatted to the correct format?

Will record to HDD and memory stick okay will not Timeshift to memory stick
