Chargeback Visa Flight Refund Esky

After our flights were cancelled in April 2020 due to Coronavirus and following on from unsuccessfully trying to get a refund from Esky who we booked the tickets through, as we paid on Visa Debit card we got the money refunded on 4th August. However on 24th December Barclays said that Visa had decided to not honour it as because Wizz air hadn't refunded Esky it wasn't fair on them. I have since discovered Wizz Air did refund Esky on 26th September, however Barclays took the money back from me on 4th January and also said that as the chargeback had been clawed back regardless of the fact Esky were refunded we would have to take it up with the Financial Ombudsman. My questions are that it states on here a charge back from Visa cannot be clawed back after 45 days and this is 5 months after we had it! And secondly is there anything else we can do other than go through the Financial Ombudseman, especially as Esky were refunded in full on 26th September for the tickets which comes to £1930 so no small amount! Esky have not responded at all despite me emailing them several times starting on 24th December and also providing a copy of the email from Wizz Air to prove they were refunded.

Given that you said barclays told you " Visa had decided to not honour it" that tends to say to me that the rejection was picked up within 45 days and Barclays contested it (pre arbitration, has to be done within 21 days of rejection) which means Visa sit and decide who should keep the money. Not sure how long they are taking at the moment as a bit passed the area I deal with, and home working means I do not get to speak to people who deal with that side that often.

Do you have travel insurance as that would be the only other option as taking it to FOS (have Barclays rejected your complaint?) is again not going to be a quick solution.
