ps 3 80gb

Was interested in buying the ps 3 with 60gb hard drive. I have now found out that they have stopped making them, but have replaced them with 80gb model in the states and Japan.Anyone heard when this model will be released in the UK.

what do people think are the chances of another price cut of the 40gb ps3 around that time? i keep going back and forth on whether to get a ps3 or a xbox 360 and today seeing the new game called uncharted has swayed me a bit more towards the ps3 but it is still too pricey at the moment.

Also taking into consideration they were making a loss on PS3s on release (and I don't think that has changed much other than they are making a "smaller" loss with reduction in manufacturing costs).

i am surprised people believe that the launch prices of consoles are what they are out of need rather than taking advantage of the consumer. consoles are always high priced at first and gradually come down. the ps1 was £400 at launch. by the time i got one it was £130. it is similar with alot of electrical goods. when i first got a dvd player in 2001 it was £200, you can now get a decent brand dvd player for £40. the 80gb console will cost alot more than the 40gb, it is bound to. so if the price of the 40gb doesnt come down then that means the 80gb is going to be really expensive. when there is already the xbox 360 elite with its 120gb at £300 why would anyone pay £400 or even £450 for the 80gb ps3.
