Dual fuel contracts

Options
I have recently been billed by Eon for £1,136 .... I am in a 2 year fixed term contract v4  from 02.09.2019 to 18.09.2021 today is 8th January 2021. I am still in contract. I agreed a fixed term payment of £71 per month at beginning of contract, and have indeed paid my £71 direct debit every month totalling around £1,200. Eon have suddenly decided in October 20 to estimate my bills,  next minute I get a bill for £1.136.00  my question is are they allowed to charge me more than our original agreement price in this contract?  And why has my paid already £1,200  not been taken into account on the final bill I received? Im now disputing this. Does £71 fixed month contract not stand  for anything?

The £71 does not stand for anything in contractual terms: it is a payment made on account. You do though have the right under Standard Licence Conditions to be billed on actual meter readings. Email your supplier with photos of your meter readings, and ask them to issue an up to date bill. You can then see whether you are paying enough each month to cover your actual usage. Remember suppliers no longer have to read your meters but they do need to obtain actual meter readings once every 12 months.

I think you will find that you agreed a fixed term (2 years) and a fixed rate (per kWh and daily standing charge).  There won't have been an agreement that £71 per month would cover those charges - it was just an estimate of the costs based on the annual usage figure that you provided.  Have you been providing meter readings?  What was your initial meter reading.  What is it today?

Your direct debit is not your bill.
"contract" doesn't enter into it, you do not pay £71 and then burn through all the gas and electricity you like, doesn't work like that.
The only "contract" is that your unit rates do not go up between (in your case) 2/9/19 and 18/9/21.

Are you reading your meters and giving them to the supplier and are you doing this regularly?  Or is your bill full of E's next to all the readings?

You can get advice in this forum. Please tell us the readings at the start of your fixed term contract (electricity and gas), and the readings as of today. Please scan or photo the most recent bill, redact personal information and put it on the forum. It would seem that £71 per month may not have been enough to pay for your energy usage, in which case you will have to increase the monthly payment to pay the arrears combined with a new level appropriate to your usage. As previously mentioned the monthly payment is an estimate of what your energy might cost, it is not a flat fee to use any amount of energy.

Before EON started in October to estimate the readings how did they get the monthly readings . Unless they came from you or from a smart meter it is highly unlikely that a meter called around.

In October were you in debt to EON ?

Edit a debt of £1,136 after only 16 months is suggesting that you have been under paying by a month. If that reflects your actual consumption you appear to be a very heavy user.
You need to look back on your bills

@Ladyprecious Can you give us your opening reading with Eon (should be the same as the one you gave your old supplier) and todays please.

A photo of the meter would be good.
