Keep looking. These are uncertain times for everyone. You are now in the ideal situation. Plenty of property will be coming onto the market in the weeks ahead.0

Has anyone asked your vendor whether they would break the chain?0

The EA today on the phone said that they would be prepared to move out into a friends house.. but not sure if this is just to keep me quiet for a little while as I really threw my toys out the pram in my email. But if no progress next week then I will suggest this again and see what is saidNatNat77 said:Has anyone asked your vendor whether they would break the chain?0 -
Diabhay15 said:Update... just had a call from EA following on from a very abrupt email I sent earlier. He has apparently spoken to the vendor who has now said they have had a survey in November and that they are just awaiting offer from Santander. Not sure what to believe to be honest as the last time I spoke with them, no survey had been undertaken!!Are Santander mortgages known to be taking a long time? We had our offer with Halifax and it took 2 weeks from application to offer

Hopefully if they say yes they will stick to their word, shame there are no guarantees though! I'd keep looking in the meantime. I applied with santander at the end of September and it took 9 weeks, I'm employed and hubby is SE. Unfortunately we're still waiting for our buyer to sort theirs, also with santander. But they had an issue with their credit file and apparently they resolved it but have had to start their mortgage application all over again! So they are taking longer in some cases, whereas others sail through and there doesn't always seem to be any rhyme or reason for this. It's very frustrating especially when you're sitting there waiting for updates that aren't always forthcomingDiabhay15 said:

Hope it all progresses quickly for you! I know that they are both self employed, so understand it can take longer. My partner is self employed and I’m employed but on maternity leave and ours went through very quickly.. but I shouldn’t compare ours to everyone else’s! Really hoping we get an update soon to say their mortgage has been approved 🤞🏼NatNat77 said:

Being self employed isn't helpfull in the midsts of what potentially could be another full lockdown when looking to obtain a mortgage.0

Update... I have chased their estate agent today to find out if they have had their mortgage offer yet. This was the response:
“I have spoken to the agent at the top today who intimated that he thought the offer should be out next week. I will let you have any more information as I get it.”
now I might be being stupid here, but this has confused me even more as to who’s mortgage offer we are waiting on?What would you do from here? My partner wants to knock on their door to find out what’s going on, but I feel this is too confrontational!0 -
Too desperate, try lowering the price a bit and maybe find another buyer?0

Eh? OP has already sold and moved out. They are waiting on the chain above....Crashy_Time said:Too desperate, try lowering the price a bit and maybe find another buyer?0
