I (sort of) look like her but not as attractive. (I'm sure my friends would say otherwise ... at least I hope! lol). Profile pics are a bit of fun as long as they're not offensive ... I hope mine isn't. :)

I see. Ok, fair enough. I just had this weird feeling that you may be a previous multiple banned male poster who is now pretending to be a woman so as to avoid detection and yet another banning. I guess I was wrong, Jenni  :)
  • Suggestion.
HDD quiet (normally), SSD silent, DVD drives noisiest and can get a bit noisy when they star to wear out.
This will take slightly longer to write but using an external usb connected writer on a foam or light rubber mat onto a solid surface (not blocking any ventilation holes if there are any) will reduce noise transmission.

As has been writ earlier when vibration occurs it might set other things resonating too a bit and tgat exacerbates the problem. Keeping the whole computer on foam/rubber/carpet (ventilation warning again!) Will help too.

I can assure you that I am most definitely female ... well I was when I looked in the mirror this morning lol.

I am a bit nerdy techie so maybe that comes across in how I write sometimes? (And we all know that all nerds techs are male) ;)

Nothing wrong with being a female tech 'bod', and you certainly sound like a bit of an 'Uptown Girl'. My mistake, obviously. Hope you don't think I sound like a 'Madman'  ;)

  • Is burning a DVD from a SSD drive much quicker than burning from a SATA drive? If so, how much quicker roughly?

No. An HDD can transfer the data more than fast enough to keep up with the rate at which a DVD drive can burn to disk.

The DVD drive is going to be the main source of noise and vibration. You don't really get much in the way of vibration damping for 5 1/4 inch drives, since there's no larger bay to put rubber brackets in or suchlike. Putting the entire PC on a damping mat could help. Otherwise you'd be needing something custom made or jury rigged.
