How long does it take the Land Registry to complete registration of title?

We completed on our new build in Feb 2020.  However, 11 months later, we've received a letter from our conveyancers confirming that the Land Registry have completed the registration of our title to the property.  Is this normal?  FWIW, the edition date of the Register of Title is 12/2/20.

Yes, "new" registrations (such as a split-off from a larger plot) take longer than more straightforward ones, and obviously COVID hasn't helped. Doesn't matter in the slightest though.

Thanks!  I wasn't necessarily worried about the time taken, it was more that I wasn't aware until now that the registration of title hadn't actually taken place

Yep - we completed on our new-build in November 2019 and registration was completed in November 2020. Our solicitor said it didn't affect anything - all the paperwork was there to show we'd bought the house. I believe that if we'd wanted to sell and registration was holding up the sale then solicitors could have expedited the process with Land Registry.

I can only assume that there must have been some complication with your title or the splitting off of it.

We bought our new build in April 2019 and the registration was completed in June 2019!

As I mentioned, COVID will have had a significant impact while places like the registers set up home-working systems etc.

The edition date confirms we received it on 12/2/2020. As others have posted we do have a backlog of new builds for example and first registrations but we had these before Covid hit although clearly it’s had a big impact
When you complete and move in the registration is still important but will always wait a while in my experience. You are still the owner so very rarely is the registration wait time an issue. If it is or becomes urgent then we have an expedite process to assist but that is very rarely used in comparison to how many go through in the time it takes
