SSE & Letting Agents Deal
Options
Daughter of friend moved out of family home into 1 bed flat and asked for Energy advice - I checked current supplier which was Octopus, so not too bad for service but not that good on price
On moving-in day she phones Octopus to report meter read, but is told supplier is now SSE - Checks with Landlord who is baffled at the change - The answer of course is that the Letting Agent has trousered cash from SSE for making the change whilst the flat was in limbo between tenants.
So it's onto SSE to register, and what is beyond belief is the 'Welcome' pack which states that the monthly D/Debit payment is set at £20, which also states an SVT Annual cost of £587 based on a consumption 2,400 Kwk @ 17.16p with a 24.5p SC - This would require a D/Debit of £49 to balance the account.
This shows that SSE are not just following Sparks "Get new customers" method, but also the their "Get the customer in debt so they can't Switch" policy.
Spark are regularly in the frame on this this forum and there was real flurry about 18 months ago, where there was anecdotal evidence, but not proven, that letting agents were not just getting a bung for signing up, but also a percentage on every bill that was issued

Yet more evidence, if any were needed, of just how utterly useless Ofgem is.0
