Expanding foam

Morning all,Looking to fill a hole in the garage ceiling which is underneath the ensuite as it makings the floor quite cold. Is there any reason not to use expanding foam?
From what I can see, there is a plastic pipe which I think carries the waste water away from the sink and bath and also central heating pipe. I have attached a pic (there are some pieces of broken plasterboard there which I will remove)
Many thanks

No reason not to use some expanding foam. I'd use it, then cut it back slightly when cured then finish off with some filler.0

I think I'd be more concerned about the Joints on the waste pipe! Sharp corners like that should be avoided, that's why they make pieces that give a curved flow. Ref patching ,best use some Bonding plaster then finish off with plaster or filler.0

I'd want to be able to get to those pipes, blockages always occur at bends. That'll be much harder with crazyfoam stuck all over them. I'd just make a patch out of an old bit of plasterboard or ply and screw it over the hole, it's only the garage.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

I think that's simply pipe insulation you're looking at, not the pipe itself.Gastines3 said:I think I'd be more concerned about the Joints on the waste pipe! You could also try and box the whole thing in placing some roof insulation inside.0
