hi,
I just want an advise regarding the soil pipe outside our house, it is leaking whenever I flush the toilet. Do you think it is worth calling in a plumber or should we seal it ourselves like DIY? Thanks for the insight!

It looks like insert into the waste pipe has come out a bit may just need pushing back in (photo from front may be better) depends on how good a diyer you are. Denso tape is one solution just wrap it round a few times. or if in any doubt as the others call plumber.

If it's the rubber seal that is leaking, I don't see what a plumber can do besides checking it, cleaning and, possibly, replacing.https://www.toolstation.com/boss-rubber-adaptor/p37469 - for 40mm pipe.

I'd suggest 'Plumbers Mait' as an easier and neater alternative.1 -
Putopao, this is a job of two halves. The first is getting up there safely and securely. Can you do this? Cool. The next part is to work out how to fix it.As said before, it looks as tho' the rubber gasket/seal which fits around the narrower pipe and goes in to the larger vertical soil pipe's 'boss' has come out for some reason. You can see a series or raised rings around it - they should be pushed right in to the boss.Take a bottle of liquid soap up with you (unless you have the proper stuff which is silicone grease or spray) and apply a few drops to the narrow pipe where it enters the gasket. Grab that rubber gasket firmly and rotate it at the same time as pulling it fully out of the boss and up the narrow pipe a few inches (the soap will have helped here). Now add more soap to the newly-exposed part of the narrow pipe and to the outside of the rubber gasket, and this will help it to be pushed back in all the way, until only the larger end ring remains.
