Faulty TV

I ordered and received a relatively expensive TV from a well known independent AV dealer in between Christmas and New Year.
The TV was set up the day it was delivered and had a vertical line of faulty pixels very close to one edge, which I notified immediately to the retailer by telephone, following up with photos as they requested.
The retailer arranged collection of the unit, but whilst it was on its way back, one member of staff suggested I must have damaged the unit whilst unpacking it, which is absolutely not the case.
They received the unit back 48 hours ago and I have so far heard no more. How do I proceed if they decide to be difficult in refunding?

(I must have damaged the unit whilst unpacking it, which is absolutely not the case.)Thats what they will be checking as no customer will admit to damage .0

Was the staff member their at your house as you unpacked the TV ?
Sounds rather false to me.
Ignore it for now and let them either repair it free or refund it I reckon.
Vertical lines of dead pixels is a common TV fault, its a hardware fault (usually T-con controller board or mainboard) this is not something you can damage since its underneath the solid plastic tv bezel and if you did drop it your screen or tv case would be cracked or damaged.

I agree with the last poster, if it's a line of dead pixels it's unlikely to be due to damage. 48 hours isn't very long though. Personally I'd ignore the staff member and give them a bit of time to look at the TV, I'm sure they'll refund, replace or repair in due course.0
