To be able to pay someone in Bitcoin you first have to purchase them from someone on the internet, who may not be trustworthy. If this is only way to make payment, I would think again.

Ok thanks, the vendor card payment and paypal isn't available at present.
Have purchased for them previously using card payment.
Will probably wait until its working again then so.

You could open an account on Coinbase (ID verification required), transfer money from your bank account to your Coinbase account, buy bitcoin, then use the Coinbase Wallet to send bitcoin to your vendor. There will be some fees involved when you buy bitcoin, you can find them on their website. There are numerous companies like Coinbase, this is just an example.

Card payment and Paypal unavailable at present? Trustworthy? I think not.

There's fees involved with buying/selling bitcoin so I'd avoid it if you can. If they really are as trustworthy as you claim then they will not mind at all waiting until their card/paypal services are up and running again to take payment. Anyone who insists on bitcoin/crypto only is a red flag in my book, unless I know what I'm getting up to is dodgy enough to need it...

You may have used them before and they may be trustworthy, but I would seriously consider the possibility that their system has been compromised and a third party is diverting payments from them to somewhere else. If that had happened, Bitcoin would be the ideal tool, because of its (relative) untraceability.
As you say, better to wait until more conventional payment methods are back, and you'll save yourself a bit of faff in the process!

I’ve used cex.io a few times to pay with Bitcoin and never had any issues. Who is the vendor out of curiosity?

The dodgy bit is that Bitcoin is the only payment method offered. Made more dodgy by the apparent fact that previously available payment by card or by Paypal is 'not available at present'
