More importantly, fabric or leather is a make that fits your foot, some makes have narrow footbeds (Scapa) some wider (Meindl). go to a store with a few different makes and try them on, walk around and make sure there's no squeezing/pinching or excess movement. Buy the ones that fit best. For mainly summer walking I prefer the lightness/flexibility of the fabric/goretex type. With me it has to be Meindl. I use the Respond Mid GTX and the even lighter X-SO 70 (super comfy but prone manufacturing issues, but have always been replaced under warranty)
