Walking boots - leather vs fabric
Comments

Hi there, I always think that the better boots are from leather.0

I prefer leather shoes. One pair can be worn for 5-6 seasons if the shoes are of high quality and are worn neatly. And shoes made of artificial materials are often worn for only one season. There is no saving in this, but there is super consumption. Here you need to sensibly assess what is more humane: the killing of specially grown animals or the massive littering of our planet.

Hi tec, good cheap(ish) brand.0

Bought some Grisport, well made and strong - usually a discount on the website and a freebie pack.0

Luckily you don't have to choose between wearing the skin of some poor slaughtered animal (and of course rearing and processing those animals is a contributor to climate change) and adding to the mountain of plastic waste! There are lots of manufacturers making vegan shoes and boots from recycled or eco-friendly materials.KayBur said:Here you need to sensibly assess what is more humane: the killing of specially grown animals or the massive littering of our planet.
This was the first one I found on google, but there are lots more:

I don't think there's anything wrong with considering the ethical implications of our shopping choices.0 -
The OP asked for recommendations for boots, not a discussion on ethics.1

They asked about leather vs fabric.Pollycat said:The OP asked for recommendations for boots, not a discussion on ethics.
I'm sure the OP is more than capable of deciding which posts they want to take on board and which they don't agree with. Also it was actually Kay Bur who first raised the ethical issues.0 -
I am for leather shoes. It has been worn for years. Although it depends on the season. For the summer, it is easier to take a lighter and more breathable material. You can do something like canvas - also indestructible shoes and can be washed.Pollycat said:KayBur said:I prefer leather shoes.
