This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark cold start again to the day.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 gone also, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was HM lasagna, chips/air fried new potatoes/salad - all eaten and no LO's. Tonight is a treat chinese takeaway as it's my birthday.
Have a few things to do, but will mostly be chilling and doing what I want. On day's off until Monday.
Yesterday work was ok, we were trying to make a new part of the tech work and it just won't - tech guys involved, seems 2 parts of the system are not connecting and they don't know why or how to make it happen - on goes the saga!
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Nmic glad you have a few days off
Ruby I am thinking of you and your family
Marie I hope you have managed to get some support
I need to catch up on all the news as i have been at mums for a couple of days leaving early and getting home late as the flooring man has been doing the floor in the lounge and hallway and its easier to take the dog out and it meant he could get on as DH was locked in the conservatory so very minimal contact and he and DH wore masks if they had to interact so all good there and its now finished I managed to do quite a bit of paperwork for mums estate including the numerous letters from the council asking the same questions re the house . DS is staying there for now as the insurance company want it occupied to continue the cover so that's all good mum lived near a mainline station and DS has work in London right now he is back working on the tv series The Great so its ideal and saves me getting up at the crack of dawn to take him to the station here . Right enough waffle from me have a good day stay safe and warm looks decidedly frosty out xxxSlava Ukraini16 -
Morning

It's -1ºC and we have frost and fog this morning. I can't seem to stay warm without wearing far too many clothes and turning the heating right up. I'm trying not to moan about things - not easy is it?! - so, the frost looks pretty and my fairy lights and candles make the house feel cosy.
The decs are coming down today, I need to sort them as I go because some need mending and some are only fit for the bin.
I've done two loads of washing. While the machine was doing it's thing, I cleaned the kitchen and finished sorting the cupboards. Waking up ridiculously early has it's advantages, I prefer to get things done when I'm alone, I always work faster and do a better job. Plus, I can open the front downstairs windows to let some air in, without Scamp raging at a passer-by, lol.

Morning All
Happy Birthday nmlc, hope you have a lovely day and enjoy your takeaway.
Thinking of you Ruby, bella and Marie.
DD came over with little Sophie yesterday so we could go for a walk, lovely weather but a little cold. We are all struggling with this cold so the fresh air was good for the system.
Washing up to date and the DW is doing it's thing, I made up all the beds yesterday so the place looks a lot tidier. Not sure what to do today apart from going for a walk and getting logs and coal, I've a good book on the go so may just relax and read for a while.
Hope you all have a happy Thursday, take care. XX14 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Enjoy your days off and a happy birthday. Enjoy your Chinese.
Once again it's greetings from the frozen wastes. I feel this frozen snow will be with us forever. Minus 3 through the night and set to rise to plus 1. Those who know say next week will be a little bit warmer! It'll soon be countdown to NELS' spa opening again!
For a bit of light relief from Sloth I must today clean the kitchen and bathroom. What fun! Other than that yet another groundhog day of solitary. I have read that our region now has the lowest rate of infection in the country. That's good going considering at one time we were one of the highest. Those endless months of Tier 3 must have worked hereabouts. Fingers crossed the total lockdown has the same effect throughout the country.
Have a good day if you can folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. We have so many with troubles just now. Thinking of RUBY, BELLA, MARIE and hoping TOPSY and DP's DD are improving. Take care one and all, stay sane and safe x

Happy birthday NMLC, and thanks for starting. You've been busy Bella, hope you're ok.Looks bitter out there, with thick frost, or is it light snow, it's bl**dy cold anyway.I didn't go out yesterday, I had more bread than I thought, and DH reminded me there was a bag of spuds in the shed so I'll get through till Saturday I hope. The freezer is full, it's the fresh stuff that's often needed first.Nothing much happened yesterday, a friend rang and we put the world to rights for an hour, neither of us had much actual news, but we don't these days.Today will be more of the same, I had an idea for a card so I'll try and make it. Inspiration still has not struck for Dgd's card but there's nearly a fortnight to go, I'll look on Pinterest, trouble is there's so much on there I forget what I originally went on for. That's it for today. Thinking of Ruby and her family, Bella,Marie, and others who are having a bad time.Take care folks.15

Good morning and Happy Birthday nmlc!
It is bitterly cold here, -4° and I'm waiting for the heating to come on, I'm just so cold. It is usually on by now, only hope that it has not gone wrong.
I made a mushroom and chickpea curry last night, I think Mr ancient might have liked to have meat in it but it was a first day of lockdown 3 meal to conserve meat supplies.
I don't plan on doing anything much today, far too icy to be out though I will do a bit of dust removal because when I took the fairy lights down, a lot of dust was revealed. Especially on the stairs, I'd festooned lights on the banister and now I see why that might not have been a good idea, I must remove it without thinking of it the rest of the year.
The heating is on, I might drape self over radiators for much of today.
Thinking of Ruby and all of us who are struggling at present.
ETA food delivery from m*rrisons last night, no actual substitutions other than a smaller pack of loo rolls than we usually have, plus a wee gingerbread man as a thank you for ordering. I shall eat him later.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back15 -
Morning folks.Happy Birthday nmlc! Hope you have a great day and enjoy the food tonight.Very cold here and colder still tomorrow. I am enjoying the dry weather though and liking the non-muddy dog walks.Big pot of soup made yesterday and enough to last a couple of days. V lazy tea of fish pie courtesy of Sains but the MSE bit is the accompanying 14p or whatever they are Brussels and carrots from L. I’ve been enjoying the cheap price veg and noticed that they are very local to us but I suppose they travel
up and down. V tasty though. Once prices go back up I think I’ll get a veg box again. I’m trying that balance of grocery budget and supporting local.Quiet day planned for me.Thinking of so many here and hoping things in life ease xx15 -
Morning folks.Happy Birthday 🎂 to nmlc. There's snow outside, an overnight blanket. The main road is clear and wet, just the side roads and cars are covered. My al fresco breakfast was lovely, only spoiled a bit by the freezing cold in the car as we sit with the windows open. ❄️ We had a rambling chat again, I think that we're just pleased to be having a conversation. I'm not a great chatter but even I miss it sometimes.Yesterday evening I took down the cards and tree, although the first thought was 'everything looks so bare' the rooms are really better for the lack of clutter. All the angels are wrapped up in their ancient tissue paper for another year.DM's GP came to visit her yesterday unexpectedly, just a phone call to say she's on her way, cue a busy 15 minutes 😂 The GP is very kind and caring, she comes just to check on DM and have a chat so I left them to it.I have a shopping slot booked for later though if I go out depends on the snow clearing. The anticipation may keep me going for a bit. Now, my thoughts and 🤗 to all who are in need or even want. Happy Thursday to everyone.14

Morning all! Very heavy frost today but I checked yesterday and the wood is definitely coming today so bring it on! I'm winter ready baby! So that's todays excitement, a wood delivery. I took most of the decorations down last night but re-jigged some shiny stuff over the fire, some giant glass pendant string lights onto the mirror in the hallway and left the icicles [well, they actually look like batons] in the main window. I'm going to properly put the stuff away this year and spread it over two boxes instead of stuffing it in one. There's still some massaman curry left so we canhave that with a peshwari nan or something for supper. Saves me cooking another meal, only have to do accompaniements
Right, better get on, move the car while there's still a space there and drink more tea. Have a good a day as possible all...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10
