Refund of return costs

Hi
I have had to pay to return goods that were damaged and therefore faulty. This was for two items of clothing, one of which was damaged. The signed-for return cost me £8.95 and I want the merchant (Flannels) to reimburse me for these costs. They have said that it's too late for them to refund the cost of the return as they have already processed the refund and offered me a credit note. I'd rather the money back, as the £13 they have offered doesn't pay for much from there (it just about covers their delivery fees with some change). can they legally do this, or do I have any consumer rights protection that I can use?

You said one was faulty, so the other wasn't? In this case you may be liable for the return cost of the non faulty depending on their returns procedure. You could be seen as taking advantage of the returns procedure to get a free return here so it's not as clear cut as a straight case of returning faulty goods.0

Flannels is owned by Frasers Group (Sports Direct), they really hate refunding.
If one item was not damaged I don't expect you will get the postage refunded.0
