Hmrc debt
Hi all again,
Ok so my DRO was accepted 17 dec all went smooth and I feel relieved!! One of the debts that was in mine was hmrc... well actually a few from them however one of them was a overpayment of tax credits from 2016-2017 it was £964 ish but was just in my name on the letter even though at the time it was a joint claim. I entered that debt into the DRO like I said it was in my name only. Anyway literally today a letter arrived for my partner saying he owes £482 roughly half of what went in to the DRO but it was just in his name not mine, however the dates of the overpayment are EXACTLY the same as what I entered into my DRO. Are they just trying their luck with him as they now know about my insolvency as it does look like they have halved it. I still have my letter from them that I entered into the DRO and like I said they match his.

Not sure what to do about this will he still have to pay it even though it’s gone in my DRO in my name?does all this make sense? Sorry for rambling

It sounds like it if the dates and numbers match up, but I'd check with HMRC to make sure that they're aware of the DRO and ask them exactly what it is that they're demanding payment for, as if it is for a debt that's in your DRO then it's a bit cheeky of them and if you have to speak to the Insolvency Service to tell them what's going on, as if they are trying it on, well, they shouldn't be because the debt is frozen0

thanks for your reply, yes exactly the same dates but half the debt amount but it went into my DRO under my name only. They probably are aware now of my DRO and this is the first time EVER they have ever contacted JUST my partner, when we claimed back then letters were normally addressed to either both of us or just me. The debt that went into the DRO in my name only had EXACT dates as his letter today. I feel they are trying there luck myself. Just wondered what people’s thoughts were.Thank you 😊0

It sounds like they're chancing it, or it's gone to someone who doesn't know what a DRO is and they're trying to get some money back, cheeky sods1
