Hi all
Back in the 1990s and 2000s I used to build my own PCs for gaming. We currently have a Kindle Fire for the 7 year old girl, and the adults have laptops/tablets.
With lockdown i thought it would be educational to build a PC with the 7 year old...with funds tight, I am looking through eBay for a second hand PC I can take apart and reassemble with her. I am so out of touch with the current generation of processors! Can a kind soul recommend the bare minimum, and recommend any good brands/models/places to buy?

Dell Optiplex can be found cheaply. But with no mention of budget...1

Agree a cheap Dell, probably 7010 but 7020 better at least an I3. Add SSD with W10, upgrade processor and memory if needed from CEX.
Tower is easier to work on than the SFF versions and easier to install graphics card into, when they play better games.
Did exactly the same for my kids, less than £100 for minecraft/roblox machine. For other games you will probably need a graphics card and maybe a new psu, which starts to double the price depending on what they want to play.1 -

Thanks all, £100 is about the max I want to spend at the moment. Will have a look at the Dell towers.I did think about the raspberry pi, but want something I’m familiar with.0
