Thanks all! I think the ignoring them approach is best, and I hope they give up. I didn't have any scam calls yesterday and none so far today. Hopefully this is the start of the end of them.

I find they come in waves, loads over a few days then nothing for a while, then another wave.

I hate those "your broadband will be discontected today" or the "I am calling about your recent car accident" type calls, I wish they would just leave us all alone.

Hi guys - I agree with those saying about Truecall or similar. I was being plagued by nuisance calls and found previous advice about this. I bought a handset system with this included and now I can't remember the last nuisance call that came through.

I bought these (admittedly for a lot less as it was over a year ago) and I've not had a nuisance/scam call since. Basically if anyone calls whose number is included in your directory (on the phone) they are put straight through, if the number is private, unknown or not in your directory the caller has to press a number on their handset to continue the call. As most of these calls are automated this part of the process isn't completed and the call fails, your phone doesn't even ring. We bought these panasonic ones but there are other makes that do the same thing.

Yes, this is what has happened. I hadn't had a call since the OP and wondered if they had given up. I've been getting two calls a day for the past five days *sighs*

Thanks! This looks like just what I need and I am actually looking to buy a new phone. Perfect timing! I will look for a single version (don't need 3).

"This is a communal line for an HMO. I don't know who lives here".
Or - note the number and use a website "Who called me" where people post comments about calls from the number and rate them as Safe, Harrassing etc.
