House with steel construction opinions

I've seen a semi detatched house on Rightmove that is just what I'm looking for but it says it has steel construction.    Should I be wary?    It's on a small close of about 15 houses, not all the same design, built in the early '60s.     Price seems average for the area.    Any advice please?

Basically, very difficult to mortgage, survey expensive, tend to be cold and can have major structural problems.

Some builders/types had a better reputation, so you might want to clarify which builder and which type before anything else.

If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

Care to put a link up? Somebody should be able to identify the construction type, and say if it's one of the legally "defective".

If it is, and it hasn't been rectified, then it will be unmortgageable.
Even if not, you may have mortgage issues.

Don't pay an 'average price for the area' for a non-standard construction property, even if it's not a defective type.

I second this, a non standard construction normally stands out due its it “being much cheaper for an area”.

    Is it a BISF property?
  • Far too overpriced for a BISF house and in that area, imo.
