Dishwasher error code.

I'm going to look at a dishwasher with a fault later. Front panel showing two flashing leds (approx once per second). One is the salt low indicator (not illiminated during normal wash), the other is above it an "X" symbol. There is a water leak as well as. Any ideas particularly regarding the LED flashes?
