Difficulty getting delivery slots again

Monday had a delivery from Morrisons, which I had booked over Christmas. No subs. Monday booked a slot with Iceland for today and had one missing item abd quite a few offers. Tried to book an Ocado slot for next week, but despite being a delivery pass holder, not a slot to be had. Tried Waitrose and got a slot - feel lucky. Abel & Cole is now so expensive that it makes Waitrose look cheap, but with delivery slots getting harder to find, I've just pared the order right back, to include things I can't get in supermarkets. No veg though because I refuse to pay over £3 for a cauliflower. So week after next it's freezer plus dairy and eggs.

Sainsbury's in NI has had empty shelves and is putting Spar products in. Marks & Spencer in Paris, also has empty shelf syndrome. I follow a few French supermarkets and not seeing any mention of empty shelves there.

How are you doing, getting slots ?

  • My mum was finding it hard to get one booked with ASDA or Tesco however has had no issues with Morrison’s. I tend to use Iceland, always used to be able to get next day but this week had to book one for a few days time but they still had lots of slots.

You're not booking delivery slots far enough in advance. I'm booking Tesco slots 4 weeks ahead and there is reasonable availability.  Book them and if you subsequently don't need it then you cancel it.

Think it depends where you live with Tesco - there's none to be had at my address and my local superstore has only got click & collect slots available in three weeks time, right on the last day you can book.    Did a quick look at the nearby stores for click and collect and the pattern is the stores serving predominantly suburban areas have very few slots available and most of those are towards the end of the third week.     The one that's in the city has plenty of slots available including later this week.

I've just booked a slot for Monday morning from Asda, there were some available before then if I'd wanted them but not required then
Doesn't seem to be a problem at least with Asda here

I managed to get an ASDA slot for the last week in January jusy now,  as taking the advice of @alfresco It's kinda difficult working out the veg, because husband wants to be all chef like and pull supper together from what he's got on hand, rather than meal plan,
  • The earliest Waitrose slot I can get is 11 January. You can only book slots up to 10 days in advance which I think is fair as it stops people booking multiple slots weeks in advance then cancelling them.

First Waitrose slot I could get was 13 January. Organic veg there is good but expensive. ASDA organic is really good price, great quality, but less available than there used to be.

No issues getting a tesco slot four weeks ahead in my area - I have a regular slot I like, and it's easy enough to book it every week. I've yet to cancel it, but it's always an option. In April or so I had to stay up til midnight as all the slots were booked by 6am when I usually got up, but since then it's been fine.
