Dear Exeperts,
we jave a samsung 37 " HD Ready tV. Model is LE37R8. We are thinking to bring a camcorder from USA which is Sony DCr SR82(60 GB). Apparenltly it records in NTPC format. Could anyone of you please tell me if my samsung TV supports the format?
It's a bit urgent. could any of you throw some light on it, please?
Thanks,
Syan

without doing a full search on line, i would say yes pretty much all major tv's now will now accept and display the NTSC format, i'd be very suprised if it didnt, anyway dont let that stop you i am sure the camcorder you will convert onto dvd format for saving and there is plenty of software around that will easily convert it for you to the Pal format.:hello: Lets all save a £ or two, lets all earn a £ or two, and lets all enjoy spending that £ or two wisely.

It's hard to say, as that TV doesn't seem to be a current UK model.
If it's an older UK model, then it probably supports PAL and not the US NTSC format - if you look at the specs of current UK models they are PAL only.
If you turn on the TV's OSD setup menu and check through the options available, you should be able to find if there is an option to select NTSC instead of PAL.0 -
It's not worth the hassle with an NTSC camera.
OK your TV may accept NTSC, your recorder you want to use to transfer onto may not.
OK you can get some leads an transfer to a PC and then convert to a PAL DVD.
If you can get to record the output you have to accept that NTSC has lower resolution picture and the frame rate is different, so you will get the NTSC to PAL judder on the picture. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Going by the serial number although its not clearly on the samsung web site or easily found i am guessing it is a new or newish model and a lcd format.. am i right. if so then yes i am pretty sure you will be ok the recorders too vcr newer no problems older yes dvd recorders again pretty much no problem the pc option i havent ever had the judder effect spoken about, if it saves plenty of the reddies go for it but then saying that some similar uk models may not be a lot more expensive either we over here normally sale the whole package abroad however you buy the recorder oh and do you want a charger for that now and oh do you want some leads too.. now the price starts to grow way up the price options and then the camcorder functions then decide.:hello: Lets all save a £ or two, lets all earn a £ or two, and lets all enjoy spending that £ or two wisely.

NTSC to PAL judder is a widely know issue. OK more noticeable when panning, but it's there.
If you can avoid converting to PAL and watch in native NTSC and can record native NTSC and your TV can display NTSC native and doesn't have to transcode then you can avoid the judder. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
maybe it is and i accept that but just saying the judder bit i hvent had any issue with, and so yes i agree do not convert if you dont need to, never convert anything if its not needed, cuz there will always be some loss if almost unoticeable..
but going back to the original question to be honest dont worry about the ntsc bit if its the camcorder you want then go for it all this with different systems is widely being ignored now by manufacturers its too complicated for them to switch their lines for a small run of one code then same machine for another code most will now accept any type of signal i have a samsung and it cn go anywhere in the world and get a signal and display it fullypal secam ntsc anything. Buy by what you want and buy being as we all now on this site money concious, do not spend what you dont have to.:hello: Lets all save a £ or two, lets all earn a £ or two, and lets all enjoy spending that £ or two wisely.
