Santander refused PPI claim as no original documentation. I've just discovered my documentation.

Hi all
I had a very old credit card from Girobank opened in 1992. I do believe I was pressured into taking PPI and not suitable at all for it as I was on a youth trainee scheme earning pennies.
The account has been bought and sold many times from Girobank > Alliance & Leicester/MBNA > Santander.
I submitted a PPI claim to Santander in June 2017 and received a letter and final notice from Santander they had no record of the account and so threw out the claim. Unfortunately I had also lost the credit card details and so took it no further (and disposed of the Santander letter)
However, I've just found documentation and the credit card account number from when it was owned by MBNA. MBNA did have the original application form as a microfiche as I've seen a copy of it (but also threw it out after a clear out) I realise that was a really silly thing to do.
Am I too late to claim? This was a credit card I had from 1992 - 2010. Is it worth pursuing this at all?
Thanks in advance

You can ask them if they will re-open the complaint, but it's going to be a long shot, especially with the passage of time and only having the old MBNA number.0

Does your documentation show you had, and crucially, paid, PPI or just that you applied for an account that could have had it?I'm also surprised you didn't get time barred anyway, 2017 is up to 7 years after you closed the account so well outside the 3 and 6 year time bar rules0

However, if the evidence is not of a type likely to change the outcome then they can refuse to reopen it.
