Thermostat in home

Hi,
I have a digital thermostat in my home which is placed in my kitchen.
Is this the best place for it, becasue we have a decent size kitchen, but it get cold very quickly and the heating kicks in alot then.
I have read that they should be not placed in the kitchen, so if this is right do you think i will benefit to move it into a different place?

Thanks

Probably better in the hall or living room. Most modern programmers will have an offset function, so you can set it up or down from the displayed temp-check the manual.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Ours displays the tempin the kitchen, but our kitchen does get colder in the winter had really hot in the summer,

As long as you have TRVs on all other rads, then those radiators will be turned off once they are up to heat - meaning that the heating will stay on long enough only to get your kitchen up to temp.  Because of the TRVs turning themselves off around the house, the boiler should only be driving heat to your kitchen - and depending on boiler age the boiler should manage itself in terms of running on a lower amount of gas or even just circulating the already hot water.  If you move your TRV out of the coldest room, you can pretty much guarantee that the kitchen won't ever get to temp and will always be a cold room.
  • I tend to move mine around based on which room we're mainly going to be in.
During the day it tends to be in the living room as I'm working from home there, then we move it into the bedroom at night.

I try to avoid having it in my kitchen, especially in the evening as it gets a lot hotter than the rest of the house when we're cooking. If you have it in the place that is normally coldest, it will use up the most heating but would make sure all of the rooms are warm.
