“As we’ve moved to a new tax year the dates will be 18/19 to 19/20. You need to have paid enough NI contributions in both years to qualify but you’ve already used the 18/19 tax year in your previous claim. You would need to wait until tax years 19/20 to 20/21 to be assessed again to see if you would be eligible for financial support.”
So I think based on this I’m unable to make a second claim. It’s all rather confusing.
It's worth considering that a work coach is not necessarily the best person to provide benefits advice because they are unlikely to have the technical expertise of a decision maker or a processor.
The advice on here, from multiple posters, is to make a new claim and get a decision.
If the outcome is negative, please come back on here so we can check if it is correct. Decision makers can get it wrong also.1 -
I would just like to update and say that I have been granted a second claim on JSA. Thanks to everyone’s contributions on here. It would appear my work coach was not sure of the rules.2

NEW JOB SEEKERS ALLOWANCE RULES. I HAVE BEEN WORKING FOR 15 HOURS A MONTH WHICH I THOUGHT WAS ALLOWED WHILST LOOKING FOR A NEW ROLE? UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE NOW BEEN AVISED THAT I NO LONGER QUALIFY UNDER NEW RULES FOR JSP!!! BECAUSE OF THE 15 HOURS OF PAID WORK. I READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS WITH A FINE TOOTH COMB ON THE GOV.COM WEBSITE WHICH TELLS ME I CAN WORK FOR A TOTAL OF 16 HOURS AND STILL CLAIM THE BENEFIT ??? NOWHERE DOES IT EXPLAIN ANY CHANGES. AS I HAVE ONLY BEEN IN CONTACT WITH JOB COACHES WHO APPEAR TO BE ILL INFORMED AND ABSOLUTELY INEPT ON THE TELEPHONE WITH NO ACCESS TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THEM (I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR TAKING THEIR CALL) WAS I INFORMED THAT THIS INFORMATION ON LINE AT GOV.COM IS INCORRECT !!!!!! COULD ANYBODY PLEASE ADVISE WHO I CAN CONTACT AND WHAT I CAN DO TO APPEAL THIS DISCISION. IT IS SO UNFAIR AND HAS LEFT ME FEELING VUNERABLE , AND VERY TEARFUL AS I WAS COUNTING ON THIS MONEY TO PAY THE BILLS. I WAS LEFT IN THIS AWFUL SITUATION AS I HAVE BEEN MADE REDUNDANT THROUGH NO FAULT OF MY OWN AND NEVER BEEN OUT OF WORK ALL MY LIFE!!!!! ANY ADVICE WOULD BE MORE THAN GREATLY RECIEVED. THANKS IN ANTICIPATION0

THANKS IN ANTICIPATIONA new thread would have been better rather than asking your question on the end of someone else's thread. Please can you also stop using capital letters because it makes reading extremely difficult and is classed as shouting in text form. When claiming JSA you can only earn £5 per week anything over this and your JSA is reduced £1 for £1. You should look at claiming Universal Credit but whether you're entitled will depend on your circumstances. If you have savings/capital of more than £16,000 you're excluded from claiming. If you live with a partner you claim as a couple. Use a benefits calculator to check entitlement.https://www.entitledto.co.uk/benefits-calculator/Intro/Home?cid=c88bccf7-cdcb-4591-ac5d-8f7c6a0bb89eDetails here about earnings and JSA. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/jobseekers-allowance-what-you-need-to-tell-us-if-you-do-any-work-b7l/jobseekers-allowance-what-you-need-to-tell-us-if-you-do-any-work-b7l
This was taken from the above link.
The amount of Jobseeker’s Allowance you get when working will depend on how much you or your partner earn in the week you work.
If you claim for yourself, you can earn £5 a week before we reduce the Jobseeker’s Allowance payments we make to you.

Lovejeane, you are allowed to work and claim JSA if the hours are less than 16 but the earnings do affect the amount of JSA you receive. For most people, because JSA is so low, there will be nothing payable long before they reach 16 hours.
Have you checked entitlement to Universal Credit?Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
What is contribution based JSA, and is there less of a pressure or onus to look for work and to adhere to the Universal Credit requirements whilst doing so?0

It's now called New style JSA and the same requeirements apply to this as they do with UC as regards to looking for work.
