British Gas new tariff - Electric Drivers Jan 2022
Options
Just had a new tariff appear on my British Gas tariff options which seems incredibly cheap - "Electric Drivers Jan 2022". Anyone else got it? Can't seem to find it on comparison sites so is it an exclusive existing customers only tariff? My tariff ends March 2021 so looking to switch shortly but might go early if this is indeed is as cheap as it says.

It appears on my BG account page, but doesn't state the unit costs. Intended for EV users
Appears to have a typo:Presumably that should be 5am- Lower priced energy to charge your car overnight between 12am - 5pm

. . . and preferably do everything else between midnight and 5am too!
It's only available as a dual-fuel tariff so with gas for heating, water and cooking, it looks a bit more sensible.0 -
One of the Octopus Go Faster 5 hour tariffs would work out cheaper than that, without the need to take dual fuel.

That's extortionate. It would add about £120 on to my bill including 1,000kWh going to the EV at cheap rates. I would have to switch another 400kWh to overnight just to break even. That's before even looking at the increased gas costs.
Why are so many of these scam EV tariffs popping up? Do they honestly think that people are stupid enough to get sucked in by the cheap overnight rate without considering the overall cost?0 -
