Child Support Bubble Help
Can anyone please give me some advice concerning Child Care Support bubbles as I am bit confused on a the wording .
I work full time and will be continuing to do so during the new lockdown , my wife does not work so will be now providing the majority of the care at the moment and home schooling to my 7 year old daughter but Is struggling a bit as she has a chronic medical problem .
Is it only single parents who can have access to a Child Support bubble?
Can it be formed with a family member ( grandparent ) if they are living with someone ?
I did look into a support bubble but I am unable to form one with my mother as my 22 year old sister still lives at home.
It’s just the wording of 'where someone in one household provides informal (unpaid and unregistered) childcare to a child aged 13 or under in another household' which is confusing.
Any help would be appreciated .

As far as I know childcare bubbles are not just for single parents, and doesn't have to be provided only by a single person household.
In addition your wife would be eligible for care and support in her own right anyway.2 -
Childcare bubbles are not based on single parents or not, if the parent, or parents responsible for those children are working or otherwise unable (eg receiving medical treatment) to care for them then they are allowed to form a childcare bubble.homi said:Is it only single parents who can have access to a Child Support bubble?
They can be formed with anyone if that person lives with someone else, but everyone in both households must agree to the forming of the childcare bubble.homi said:Can it be formed with a family member ( grandparent ) if they are living with someone ?

It’s not just for single parents. Colleague looks after her two grandchildren when both daughter and SIL works. Daughter is pregnant with third due in March so on mat leave at end of month.
Probably look after gc more at daughter’s later stages of pregnancy as she could just sleep. SIL works for a company fixing refrigerating and freezer units in supermarkets and other places like care homes so he’s an essential worker1 -
Thanks to you all for taking the timeout to respond.
So would this mean either my sister or mother could provide the care in either of our homes or only one individual in one home?
Also would the child have to be dropped off at the house or are we allowed to go in , sorry for all the questions but just a paranoid and don’t want to get in any trouble .
I am classed as a key worker but as my wife does not work I cannot get my daughter a placement at primary school .
Thanks again

A childcare bubble is where one household links with one other household to provide informal childcare to anyone under 14. All adults in both households must agree to this arrangement. ‘Informal’ childcare means it is unpaid and unregistered.
Members of either household can provide childcare in a home or public place. This includes overnight care.
You can only have one childcare bubble with one other household. This means no household should be part of more than one childcare bubble.
You can only use a childcare bubble for childcare. You cannot use a childcare bubble to mix with another household for other reasons.
If you form a childcare bubble, it’s best if this is with a household who live locally. This will help prevent the virus spreading from an area where more people are infected.

Actually the rules on key workers accessing schools have changed, it only needs one of you to be a key worker for your child to be allowed to attend school.homi said:Thanks to you all for taking the timeout to respond.
