I've posted this here rather than techie, as I was just wondering if anyone else is having problems opening their Barclaycard statements from the website in that it's not recognising that I've got Adobe on my laptop.
It was OK last month IIRC.
It says that you need Adobe 5.0, but the version i've got is "Acrobat reader DC", which is the most up to date version.

How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.98% of current retirement "pot" (as at end April 2025)

My wife had a similar problem with Santander and it was the Firefox browser overriding the default and trying to use the inbuilt pdf reader.
I changed the default back to Adobe Reader DC in both Windows settings and Firefox and it seems to have solved the problem.0 -

Ive gotten this error code this month when trying to view my statement on Firefox.ReturnCode=005&ReasonCode=ERR017
Though logging in via google chrome and my statement will show, so I'm guessing it something to do with a recent firefox update.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:1 -
I thought I had set it as the default. It doesn't give you an option of "open with" like some documents do.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.98% of current retirement "pot" (as at end April 2025)0

That's the message i'm getting. I use Edge as my browser. Maybe I should try Chrome??How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.98% of current retirement "pot" (as at end April 2025)0 -
I've just tried Chrome and yes, I can view my statements!! However, I can't seem to download or save them. Oh well. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.98% of current retirement "pot" (as at end April 2025)0

I think that's part of the problem, I don't think I'm getting that "hover" box showing.
Will look again tomorrow when I'm on the laptop. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.98% of current retirement "pot" (as at end April 2025)1 -
For anyone else encountering
ReturnCode=005&ReasonCode=ERR017
it seems to be a long-standing error message that Barclays have not fixed. Personally I get it consistently when trying to download certain (but not all) statements having tried on multiple browsers and multiple computers.
If you search the Internet there are reports of the problem going back to 2016. My account isn't old enough to post a link yet but there are several examples on Twitter and elsewhere.
I personally first reported it to Barclays in October 2023 and then again this month (January 2025). They just closed my report without fixing it in 2023 and this time I have been chasing them repeatedly without getting any substantive update.
I get the impression that it is a problem they are aware of but don't think is important enough to fix so they just keep giving people the brush-off.0
