I wondered if anyone knew if there was an easy way to compare the octopus tariffs listed here

All our tariffs | Octopus Energy

I am an existing customer but wanted to know if any of these work out cheaper, but seemingly there is no way to check :(

Which tariff are you on at the moment, and what is your annual usage (both gas and electric if you have both with Octopus)?
  • Standard tariffs can be compared on any comparison site. It might take a moment to scroll down the page but they all should be there. There are Apps available to compare Agile versus Go.

The way to check is to do the sums.

Multiply your ANNUAL consumption in KWH by the tariiff rate = cost of consumption, then multiply the daily standing charge by 365 (366 for a leap year) = annual standing charge. Then add the two figures together to get you annual cost, divide it by 12 to get the monthly direct debit.

You could set up a spreadsheet if you wish or even use a comparison site, but it really isn't higher mathematics

Its not that simple, is it? The Octopus time of use tariffs (I'm thinking mainly of Agile) cannot be calculated by a comparison site nor are they easy to work out yourself. It comes down to a personal estimate of load shifting. If you can move enough usage out of the dearest periods to the cheapest you could make them pay. Only the OP can estimate if the ToU tariffs are worth it and then it's just a case of trying it.

My Octopus fix is coming to an end and I also need to check them out as their current quote was a bit steep. And yes, their website does kinda limit your options I feel.
I use a spreadsheet to work it all out. No choice really as Octopus seems absent from the usual comparison websites.
However, as I live inside the M25, I took a look at London Power which is associated to Octopus. Turns out I can save over £100 pa using them instead. This wasn't immediately obvious as I had to access their current available plans to get any choice. Also, I have to email them to say which one I'm interested in as there is no link to apply directly online. No reply yet so I don't know if I'll get any where with them.
It might also be worth looking at their other partners - I think M&S Energy is still involved. There might be others.
Good luck everyone. Stay safe and well.

Not mad keen on installing a random app on my phone, its a shame octopus dont offer this as otherwise there are just too many to manually compare!

Octopus 12M Fixed December 2020 v1  is Sky high rates

Octopus Exclusive 12M Fixed December 2020 v1 also Sky high rates bar non Eco 7 Tariff E Kwh rate being 0.35p cheaper than Octopus 12M Fixed December 2020 v1

Tracker Tariff is currently Sky high rates

Flexible Octopus October 2020 v1 ( Variable)  I would be suprised if you are paying more than that rate

Someone posted last week on Facebook that cheaper September 12 Month Fix was being offered via MSE Cheap Energy Club despite it now not being a current Tariff offered by Octopus, may have been withdrawn from MSE Cheap Energy Club now
Octopus Customers only see cheapest Exclusive Octopus Tariffs when they are offered via MSE Cheap Energy Club if they put existing Energy Company Tariff something other than Octopus when doing a MSE C.E.C Comparison  due to them being intended/designed for new customers hence no mention of Comparison Site Exclusive Tariffs on customers statements ......( If an existing customer discovers an available C.S Exclusive Tariff, Octopus will do Tariff change when asked )
