I have now initiated a return which was accepted immediately by the seller.

If this was my PC I'd be packaging it up now & sending it back but I'm holding back because my inlaws like the machine.

The case allows you to return, it doesn't allow you to hold anyone to ransom.  There is a finite window for you to return, if you leave it too late you will lose the case.
OP you need to be mindful of this point from theonlywayisup. Sometimes with a smaller seller or business the open case and refund possibility can trigger an offer to give a partial refund- rather than face the costs and hassle of the return. However, with a larger company the process may well be automated , the case is open, they get back the return, check it and refund you - the costs of getting some sort of agent to negotiate with you to close the case for a partial refund may not be worth their time. As the case is now open the PC needs to be returned , obviously thoroughly clean it to remove any personal information and make sure you return every single bit, every plug, every lead every set up book and leaflet enclosed . If the PC is not returned then case will close against you and that is the end of it as far as ebay is concerned.

Sorry, misunderstood, thought the OP was still trying to sort it out with Currys via chat and bots and emailing alexander balcock etc.

    Thanks all

I was maybe a bit hasty opening the return as I've just received a reply to my email saying someone from the CEO Support Team will be in touch. (I was a bit hacked off by the bot like replies I was getting to my messages so in frustration hit the return button).

Perhaps a human looking at the situation might result in a resolution that does not include sending the PC back.

I did read somewhere I have 30 days to return the PC which if correct gives me plenty of wiggle time to negotiate. (I'm sure I'll be put right if this timescale isn't correct).

I'll update as to how I get on.

    Thanks again.

Now that you have a case open on eBay you need to watch that time scale. It used to be something like 14 days but I think it has been extended considerably now and may well be 28 days or so . The  date by which you need to return will be shown in the case you have open, your return label needs to be scanned as accepted before you run out of time regardless of whether Curry’s call you or not.

Edit: this link still suggests you have 10 working days but I am sure it was extended, perhaps my memory is wonky or perhaps the extended return period has now ended. Either way the date will be shown in the case

When the seller accepts your return, you'll receive an email to your Messages with the subject “Send the item back”. You'll need to send it back within 10 business days, using tracked postage. Adding tracking details to your return helps protect against delays or issues in the refund process. If you use an eBay returns label, tracking details are automatically uploaded.

If you are referring to an ebay case, then you get 30 days to open it, not 30 days to return.

    Quick update.

Decided not to return the PC as the inlaws like it.

Today, 3 weeks after sending my email complaint, I received a reply with an apology & an offer of a £50 goodwill gesture.

Very happy with outcome as will the auld yins be when I tell them they have £50 coming back their way!

That is a result for them.  Thanks for updating.
